Photo blog

Keba loves taking pictures, as we all know, so we made a photo blog with just some of the collection. Feel free to email us any pictures you have of yourself or friends! Click here: http://www.greenephotos.blogspot.com/ to see our photo blog. We'll probably keep updating it as we go.

A different kind of gift

We have registered at the locations listed under "links," but we would also like to tell you about a different kind of gift option. We suffer from materialism, however we would like our wedding to reflect the value God places in loving people above things.

1John 3:16-18 says: "This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." We pray that we can learn to love in this radical way.

A group of our friends at Urban Hope are living and giving each day to inner city children in Philadelphia through community outreach, bible study, and lifelong friendship. These children battle unbelievable hardship and oppression, and fight for survival. We believe in this ministry and would be honored if you choose to give a donation to Urban Hope as an alternative to a traditional wedding gift. If you would like this option, you may write a check to "Urban Hope Training Center" and we will be sure to pass it along. This gift would bless us, as well as many other lives.

A little bit about us

Aaron is an up and coming rock star with stunning dark features, brown speckled eyes, and an adopted dog named squirt. He currently is employed by General Dynamics, where he entertains himself by sitting in a large shared cubicle, or running tests on robotic vehicles with fingerless gloves. He loves country music, but only when Makeba sings, and has a passion for anything his mom will cook him. In his spare time he competes in online texas hold 'em contests and watches Rocky re-runs on TV. He has not cleaned his room for four months.

Makeba is named after a famous-to-a-few-people african folk singer, has brothers named hanns and franz, and is still a little confused about how everyone in her family is related. She's a bleeding heart liberal gone somewhat conservative, and she aspires to one day save the world. In her spare time she enjoys listening to her rock star fiance play, as well as opening fresh new jars of peanut butter. She is currently employed by High Point High School where she cleans fresh gang graffitti off of the desks, and crams to keep up with ninth graders in U.S. history. In her spare time she bounces lots of checks. She has not cleaned out her car for three months.

We met at the University of Maryland, where Aaron was captivated by the beauty of Makeba's smile and amazing ability to avoid parking tickets. Makeba was equally captivated by Aaron's rosy cheeks and extensive knowledge of sports trivia. We really talked when Aaron blindfolded Makeba and led her around a ropes course at a Navigators fall event. Afterwards, Aaron "boldly" asked for Keba's screename, and we became good friends. We started talking about family, friends, life and our faith. Weeks later, Aaron quoted Makeba's favorite verse to her around a fall campfire, and Makeba was smitten. From there it was history. We had lots of ups and downs, and asked God to change us from the inside out. We are seeing lots of progress, and continuing to ask for more. Eventually we figured out that we were the best at helping each other grow in loving God and others, so we will join for life!

Aaron proposed at the Philly art museum on thanksgiving night, (Makeba said yes) and we're tying the knot this July. We can't wait!
